Essentially this job became an exercise in stripping back the unnecessary and presenting the information in a bold and confident manner. A new New Zealand serif typeface, Newzald was selected. The concept we put around the 06 brand was the idea of bringing colour into your life through culture. This was realised through the form of a colour swatch book which became the Kiwi’s tail which in turn informed the complete brand expression. This was to represent recovery and support. Mandatories included having a distinctly New Zealand flavour and be easily recognisable. The solution was to create a mark that was almost pictogram in style and derived from the Maori koru form.
